Manchester City will attempt to continue their fantastic run of form in the Premier League on Sunday when they play host to Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been playing a brand of football that some observers have claimed is ‘the best ever seen in the Premier League’.
The excitement is understandable, as the Citizens have now won eight consecutive games in the English top-flight, scoring two or more goals in seven of the eight wins.
Guardiola’s side are currently five points clear of arch-rivals Manchester United, who currently second place.
The Citizens also recorded an impressive 4-2 win at Serie A leaders Napoli in the Champions League on Wednesday night. The victory showed that Guardiola’s side are the real deal, as Napoli have started their campaign like a house on fire.
City’s home form in the English top-flight is unsurprisingly good. The men from Manchester are unbeaten at the Etihad Stadium in the league in 17 games, while also winning their last four games.
The theme of City scoring goals continues in their home games. They have scored three or more goals in all four of those recent victories.
Arsenal’s form has improved of late in the English top-flight and the Gunners actually look like they could finish in the top-four. At the minute Arsene Wenger’s side are only behind fourth-place Chelsea on goal difference.
Four wins from their last five league outings have lifted spirits at the north London club. The Gunners have also managed to score two or more goals in all four of those aforementioned wins.
One facet of Arsenal’s recent games that is not positive is their away record in the Premier League. Wenger’s side have lost eight of their last 13 games on the road. However, they did record a 5-2 win at Everton in their last away outing in the league.
This game is an easy call for me. Manchester City are on fire and I expect them to record a win over Arsenal in what should be an entertaining encounter.
