England U21 starlet Connor Wickham began his loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday by inspiring their 5-2 win over Reading but even though Yeovil dominated at Leeds they couldn’t turn any of their 16 shots into goals, going down 2-0 while AFC Bournemouth lost at home to Bolton by the same score. Rochdale lost at home to Wimbledon but at 1-2 it was more of what we were looking for. 4/6 or 6/8.
Juventus v Real Madrid Tuesday 7.45pm
Third in Serie A take on third in La Liga in a repeat of the game from 2 weeks ago. That game at the Bernabeu saw Real take the 3 points and leave Juve second from bottom in Group B and still without a win. It also left Real at the top of the group on maximum points. But the Italian side have played 3 in Serie A since then, winning 3, scoring 7 and conceding 0; Madrid, although scoring hatful including 7 against Sevilla, have conceded 7 in 3 domestic games. So they’re vulnerable and I can see goals going in both ends. Benzema has 3 in 2 games for the away side, Ronaldo has 8 in 5.
Copenhagen v Galatasaray Tuesday 7.45pm
Galatasaray scored in every game in September and October and have 1 clean sheet in their last 10 games. Their Danish counterparts have only just got the idea of not letting goals in with their 2 clean sheets this season coming last month. Drogba has 4 in 5 for the Turkish side and scored in the 3-1 win when these two met earlier in the season.
Borussia Dortmund v Arsenal Wednesday 7.45pm
Although the Arsenal have had 3 blanks in the last 3 games (clean sheets against Palace and Liverpool and a failure to score against Chelsea), this is a different prospect. Dortmund showed their credentials at the Emirates a couple of weeks ago and they’ll be a tough act to beat on their home ground, but the Gunners have also shown that, in Aaron Ramsey, Oliver Giroud and Mesut Ozil they have world-class creative goalscorers and I can’t see this remaining goalless for long.
And if you want to make it four… Ajax v Celtic Wednesday 7.45pm
