This season’s race for the Italian Serie A title was blown wide open last weekend. Last weekend reigning champions Juventus won 1-0 at then leaders Napoli.
The win only saw Juventus rise to third in the table. However, a victory on Saturday night at home against league leaders Inter will see the Bianconeri return to the top of the table.
Max Allegri’s side seem to have now recovered from a relatively poor run of form earlier this season. They have now won six of their last seven games in the Italian top-flight while scoring at least twice in six of those seven victories.
The home side have a formidable home record in Serie A, having won 36 of their last 38 league games on home soil. The men from Turin have also scored at least twice in seven of their last nine home outings in Serie A.
Inter are experiencing an impressive campaign under experienced boss Luciano Spalletti. The Nerazzurri are currently two points clear of the visitors at the top of the Serie A table.
Spalletti’s side have not lost in 17 Serie A games and have won five of their last six league games, scoring at least twice in all five victories.
The men from Milan also have a decent away record in Serie A, as they are unbeaten in eight games, having won six times. Inter have also been prolific in that eight-game run, scoring at least twice in six them.
However, Inter have a poor recent record against the Italian champions, beating the Bianconeri just once in the last 11 meetings in all competitions.
This game could well be tight, like Juventus’ recent clash with Napoli. Despite Inter’s good form, I can see the Bianconeri recording a victory and temporarily returning to the top of the Serie A table.
