Napoli host Crotone at the Stadio San Paolo in Sunday’s Italian Serie A clash, and will go second in the table with a win. Napoli have been in fantastic form of late and are determined not to give up in the title race. They’ll be 10 points adrift of leaders Juventus with victory over relegation-threatened Crotone, and the woeful form of the visitors should make this weekend’s clash a foregone conclusion.
Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli side are currently third in the Italian Serie A table with 57 points from 27 games, having won four of their last five ahead of this weekend’s clash with Crotone. Napoli have been strong on home soil, boasting four wins and a draw from their previous half a dozen outings at the Stadio San Paolo. And given how poor Crotone have been this season, Napoli shouldn’t have any trouble getting a win to leapfrog Roma in second place.
As for the visitors, Crotone find themselves 19th in the division with 14 points from 27 games this season, having suffered five defeats and a draw from their last six. Eight points adrift of safety, Crotone looked doomed given their form. And with no away win from their 13 games this season, a win for the visitors looks highly unlikely. Crotone have scored just seven goals on the road and could well struggle to breach Napoli as a result.
Napoli will be without defender Lorenzo Tonelli, but otherwise have a clean bill of health.
Crotone have four players out of action. Defenders Aleandro Rosi and Federico Ceccherini are both suspended for the trip to the Stadio San Paolo. Defender Claiton and attacker Aleksandar Tonev are injured.
With Napoli in fantastic form and particularly formidable on home soil, a Crotone side struggling for wins and having failed to pick up a victory on the road this season could come unstuck. Sunday’s clash should go the way of the hosts.
