Napoli set to see off reigning champions

On Friday night, Serie A title contenders Napoli and Juventus go head-to-head in Naples in the game of the Italian football weekend.

Napoli have made a sensational start to their campaign in the Italian top-flight, winning 12 of their 14 Serie A games so far this season, while dropping just four points.

Despite their good start to the season, the home side are just two points ahead of second-place Inter, so could lose top-spot this weekend if results go against them.

Last time out, Maurizio Sarri’s side recorded their third consecutive victory in all competitions in a 1-0 win at Udinese. The win in Udine means that the team from Naples have now 17 of their last 19 games dating back to last season.

The league leaders have been in good form on home soil in Serie A, winning eight of their last nine league games at the San Paolo. Sarri’s team have also been prolific in recent home games, firing home two or more goals in all eight recent victories.

Reigning champions Juventus arrive in Naples third in the table, four points behind the league leaders. The visitor’s recent form in Serie A has been good, as the Bianconeri have claimed five wins from their last six league outings.

Just like the hosts, Max Allegri’s team have been prolific in the Italian top-flight of late, scoring more than two goals in their last six outings in Serie A. Last time out the Old Lady recorded a 3-0 home win against Crotone.

Juventus’ recent away record is not terrible, as they have won six of their last eight games on the road in the Italian top-flight. However, the Bianconeri did slip up in their away game at Sampdoria, losing 3-2.

This game promises to be a fascinating one between two very good teams. Considering the two team’s recent results, you have to expect goals.

I can also see the home side recording what could be a crucial victory in this clash to stretch their lead over the champions at the top of the table.
