The English FA Cup is now at the semi-final stage and on Saturday evening there is a mouth-watering clash between the top two clubs in the Premier League. Leaders Chelsea face second-placed Tottenham in a game that should be a classic.
While both clubs will see Premier League success as the most important thing this season, getting one over on their rivals in the FA Cup would be huge for morale and momentum as we head into the final part of the season.
Right now Chelsea are favourites to win the Premier League and they have a four point advantage over Tottenham. Chelsea had been further ahead not too long ago but two losses in their last four games have allowed Tottenham to close the gap.
Despite two recent losses, Chelsea continue to play well and they have won five of their last seven games. However, they have been outdone by Tottenham who have won all of their last seven, scoring a tonne of goals along the way.
Despite Harry Kane being absent, Spurs have scored an impressive 22 goals in those seven games, averaging more than three goals per game. With Kane now back in the squad and expected to start, Spurs will be looking for him to add even more firepower to their already strong line-up.
For Chelsea, they know a win here will put them a step closer to recording a domestic double in manager Antonio Conte’s fire season in charge. That would represent good success for the Italian and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him have further success in years to come at the London club.
The game is a tough one to call but I’m going to side with the form team Tottenham who have looked very dangerous going forward in recent games. Assuming Harry Kane starts that is a big plus for them and he could be the difference maker in what should be a cracking game.
