In a massive game in the Premier League, Liverpool host Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday evening.
Liverpool have been in decent form of late and currently fifth in the Premier League table. A win would move Jurgen Klopp’s side level on points with the third-place visitors, but the reigning champions have a superior goal difference to the Reds.
The home side head into this game on the back of a 3-3 draw against Sevilla in the Champions League. Klopp’s side threw away a three-goal lead to draw the game.
The game was typical of Liverpool of late, as the Reds have now scored at least three times in their last five games in all competitions. That recent record is sure to be tested against Chelsea, who have kept clean sheets in their last three Premier League outings.
Surprisingly considering their habit of conceding goals on their travels, Liverpool are very strong in defence at Anfield. Klopp’s side have managed seven clean sheets from their last eight league games at Anfield.
Chelsea have hit a spot of form in the Premier League of late and their form on their travels is very good. Antonio Conte’s side have won seven of their last eight away games in the top-flight dating back to last season.
They have also kept clean sheets in three of their last four away games in the Premier League while scoring two or more goals in four of their last six games on the road in the English top-flight.
One major negative heading into this clash is the fact that the Blues have failed to beat Liverpool in normal time in the last seven meetings in all competitions.
This game could be a fascinating one. It is a case of a good home side versus a very good away side. However, Liverpool have been so good going forward of late and I think their attacking prowess will be enough to overpower Chelsea.
